Create Your Own Chalkboard Wall

You’ll also need to make sure you have protection for floors or other surfaces, because this heavy pigment paint can stain easily. Consider laying down tarp or other thick plastics, rather than just paper. Then, with the appropriate chalkboard paint from the hardware store, start painting! You’ll probably want two or three coats to get the best effect. While black is the most common color, you can get chalkboard paint in a vast array of designer colors, perfect for those who aren’t sold on having a big black wall in their home — even if it is kind of trendy these days.

For those who really aren’t sure yet about painting a whole wall or even a large area, there are blackboard cling films that give you the same effect, but are easier to remove.
