Fresh Porch Decorating Ideas for Fall

Fall brings to mind images of pumpkins and changing leaves and the colors associated with these seasonal symbols. These are great ways to add seasonal charm to the front porches of Smiths Stations AL new homes, but for something more fresh and new to complement your home, consider these decorating options.

Whether you make your own or choose the iconic can, cranberry sauce is an integral part of the holidays this season. So consider using cranberry instead of orange for your pops of seasonal color. It pairs beautifully with crisp white and forest green, in items such as throw pillows, warm blankets, wreathes, or planters.

Living in Alabama, greenery remains a decorative option for much longer in the year. Potted magnolia trees are ideal as many are evergreens. Plus, they add a glossy lush appearance that is warm and welcoming. Use colorful cranberry planters for the trees or add in a few late-blooming flowers for added pops of color.

Just as wreathes get switched out for the season, consider switching out your welcome mat or even adding in a larger indoor/outdoor rug for your front entrance. While there are certainly seasonally themed welcome mats, shake things up and look for something in an attractive graphic print or pattern. Once again, this is  a great way to bring in some of the cranberry colors for a more vivid entrance or a rich forest green for something more subtle.

Don’t forget your outdoor lighting. If you currently have cooler-color lights, consider switching the bulbs out for something with a warmer tone. If the bulbs are visible you may also want to splurge and go with some Edison light bulbs for added charm for the season.

Even if you prefer to stick with more traditional autumnal colors, consider using them in more streamlined ways, such as modern planters, or a simple but bold graphic pattern for your welcome mat. Use these seasonal colors in unexpected and modern shapes to add fresh appeal to the front porches of Smiths Station AL new homes. After all, a new home deserves a new look.
